Sling Drift
By:-LLP Games
Sling Drift is a free game developed by Tastypill. The game seems very simple and easy to play, but it’s quite difficult to fully master. Therefore, it becomes more addictive than expected. However, it also has some basic problems, such as repetitive ads; removing these ads requires an in-app purchase of approximately £2.99. This review is based on version 1.4.
How is the game played?
In Sling Drift, you control a car that constantly moves forward on an endless track. Your task is to slide the car around corners by tapping the screen at the right time. As soon as the slider indicators light up, you tap the screen to spin the car like a slingshot.
The entire game hinges on timing. If you tap and release at the right time, the car stays on the road without any problems. But if the timing is even slightly wrong, the car crashes directly into the wall and the game ends.
The goal of this game is to go as far as possible and achieve a high score. The gameplay isn’t overly complex, but the challenges and collectible cars make it worthwhile to play again and again.
Gemstones and Cars System
The game features orange gems that you can collect while drifting or earn by completing missions. These gems are used to unlock new cars.
However, these cars are purely for visual purposes and do not affect the gameplay experience. Unlocking a new car costs approximately 1,250 diamonds, or you can get a random car for 1,000 diamonds.
A total of 15 cars are available for purchase in the game. One car can be obtained by following the developer on Instagram, seven cars by watching ads, and two cars through daily rewards.
If you play regularly, you can earn enough gems to unlock a random car in about 40-45 minutes. However, unlocking all the cars might take a long time.
What is the replay value?
While Sling Drift’s gameplay is quite limited, the challenges and car unlocking system add to the game’s replayability. You’re constantly striving to improve your score each time, which makes the game motivating.
However, the game mechanics lack much variety, so it can become repetitive after a while.
The biggest problem with the game
The biggest problem with Sling Drift is lag and freezing. Even on powerful devices, the game can sometimes stutter, leading to player control issues and crashes without any apparent error message.
Additionally, the game contains a lot of ads, which can somewhat detract from the gaming experience. If you want to remove the ads, you have to pay, which can be quite expensive.
General Experience
Sling Drift is a simple yet addictive game. Its one-touch gameplay and timing-based mechanics make it fun. However, lag, ads, and limited gameplay are among its drawbacks.
If you’re looking for a short, fun game, this is a good option. However, if you’re looking for an in-depth gaming experience or prolonged interaction, this game might not meet your expectations.
